christian the baller

christian had his last regularly scheduled basketball game while papa was here. they played against bestie mike's team and... lost. :( glad mike's on such a good team, but still wish the bubba's team would have won. either way it was a good and fun game. and christian has had a good and fun season, so it's all good. and fun. ;)

jumpshot!
also, please know that i have a very hard time not busting out with some of lexi's basketball cheers! don't think that in my head i'm not singing "hustle, hustle! h-u-s, a little bit louder! t-l-e..." cause i am. and i swear, one of these days i'm gonna sing it out loud.

coach rose didn't even have any boys playing. he just loves basketball and loves coaching.
rad, right?
"hustle, hustle!"
(now it's stuck in my head!)
((that blurry kid if front of him to his right, that's mike))
(((bestie mike)))
"i'm open!"

franks hung out with papa and munched on her baby throughout.

lots-o-fouls called that game. we had a new ref that, i gotta say, i wasn't a fan of. he made some really weird calls!
like this one. if they were giving too much forward pressure (or something like that!) then all the boys had to wait across the line while the fouled player got to shoot free-throws. i've been to a lot of basketball games this year - jv, freshman, varsity, and parks and rec, and this was the first game that i've ever seen this rule. no one, not the boys or the coaches seemed to like or agree with it.
lame-o.
addie's all, "i'm just gonna borrow this baby, she said it was okay, papa!"
bubba got fouled... and made his first shot.
and...
...
made his second shot too.
go bubba,
go bubba, go!
he can do it, indeed.

throwing the ball in.

defense!
more defense...
and a little more.

just for good measure.

addie had pulled her hair things out, so i fixed them. and apparently i was blind. whoa, crazy hair!

alexis was so happy to be there! not sure about this picture, but it was posed, so there ya go.
he shoots!
(he doesn't score:( )
they had one more game after this one. a championship game. they played hard (and i think better!) but they lost and ended their season. he did not want to play baseball this year, so i agreed to let his sit out the organized sports, but he had to agree to practice basketball for at least an hour a day. and he has! everyday after school a big group of boys plays up at the basketball court at our park.
and the balling continues.
