labor day continues

it was supposed to rain all weekend, but nary a drop fell.

and laney enjoys a strawberry.

since we were thinking of rainy day plans, we thought it would be fun to go see planes at the fancy shmancy new theater in waldorf. alas, we weren't the only ones that had that idea, and the only seats we could have sat in were in the very front row, neck-break section. 

so, plan b = ghetto theater in lexington park. it didn't end up raining after all, but when mama gets in her head that it's popcorn time, it's popcorn time!

matt was worried about how the girls would do, but i assured him they would be wonderful. and they were! they sat quietly and enjoyed their popcorn and soda. laney got a little antsy, but little miss imaddictedtoiphones was happy to play with my phone for awhile. and then bam! she fell asleep cuddling with mama. :)

my pilot man was excited to watch. then at the end he said, "meh, it was okay." tough to please!

after the movie we let them pretend they were playing the games. :) and on a couponing note, i got our popcorn upgrade to use with my free small popcorn coupon for $2, and then noticed a sign that said there was an sms (does that mean text? i'm not sure) deal for a large soda for $1, so i asked if my expired text (i get texts from the theater, yo!) would work and they accepted it! large popcorn and large drink for $3!!! sweet!

i put rhonda to work upstairs again while we were gone. still getting grossness. she'll be working again today. i love her.

 

at 5 we headed over to mccombs for a bbq with utzingers, krugmans, and zawadas. i brought my nice camera thinking "i'll take some nice pictures today." and didn't think to take a picture until everyone had left and we were cleaning up. oh well.

while i cooked for the bbq, matt took the girls swimming to visit the lifeguard and enjoy the last day of our open pool, so they were exhausted by bedtime. this was 5 minutes after tuck in. and she's out!

but not miss froggy! she wakes up early and stays up late. hopefully this will bode well for her as she grows up. as for right now, it's pretty annoying.

alexis has been pretty sweet all weekend after a rough patch last week. she worked yesterday from 12-4, and then happily joined us for the bbq. this morning she ran the lg bus around to pick up all the neighborhood kids for seminary. hopefully it went well!
