last sunday frankie woke up with really awesome hair.
i got to help out in addie's sunbeam class at church and they were so cute.
then after church, kale came over to play and the duffins came over for dinner.
it was a fun night of visiting with friends. and that was after a bunch of days of holidays and parties.
we're pretty much party animals over here. ;)
so it shouldn't be surprising that we kept the party going into monday.
we met up with johnna and landon for some gourmet lunch at mcd's.
frankie actually said "landon is my boyfriend," so i think the conditioning is working. ;)
we dropped addie off at school and then it was nap time. sometimes, to protest naps, frankie will take off her clothes. and then fall asleep on the floor in weird places in her room.
so silly, that one. i would kill for quiet time and a nap every day.
tuesday was baby alexis 1st birthday, so more partying for us.
alexis had a cheer parent meeting that i got to go to and it was also bath night fun.
wednesday night they rolled out the new curriculum for church. that part was all good.
the temperature in the chapel was not good.
we froze for over an hour.
all for a good cause though, right?
and some bedtime cuteness.
but frankie asked for me to take that picture because i took this awesome one of addie in pearls and tiara.
very proper and british, this one.
one of my fav pictures ever!
thursday monring we went to a jewelry party at kristin's.
(party!)
on our way home i told addie that we were going home to catch the bus and she started saying she didn't want to. we literally followed the bus into our neighborhood, so i pulled up behind it and got her out, thinking she would just happily get on the bus. she continued saying she didn't want to ride the bus and when i got to the door she started wailing and running away. it was super embarrassing and i didn't quite know what to do, she doesn't usually throw fits like that and i didn't think it was fair to risk her crying on the bus, so we came home, had a time out, had a talk with matt, and decided to try to deescalate the situation and just let the time out be the punishment. she didn't really want to talk about it so we did some art until it was time for me to take her to school, where she went happily. later on she apologized (on her own) and gave me a hug.
that was weird huge fit #2.
(the first was leaving lily's house on thanksgiving)
that was such a nice day that after we picked addie up from the bus we went to the park with tyler and tina. (bus buddy)
just as we were getting ready to leave the park, christian came strolling up with frankie and delaney who had both been sleeping when i left to pick up addie.
so we played some more.
it was getting pretty chilly so we tried to leave again, but this time as we were leaving ashby showed up. frankie is infatuated with ashby, so of course we couldn't leave again. i was wearing ballet flats and i could hardly feel my feet by the time we got home. brrrrrr.
by the time we did get home, matt was already there and sprucing up our hedges.
"uhmmm dad, question..."
"what are you doing with all this?"
as i was making a breakfast dinner that night i got one of those nostalgic feelings, like i know i'll look back on this day and remember how sweet it was. all 5 kids and matt and i home, all happy, playing, drinking hot chocolate, christian reading (to kill a mockingbird) at the island while i cook. it was just really sweet and i know how very blessed i am.
on friday alecia had offered to watch addie and frankie, so yay!
this was delaney before one of the many, many, many times i had to wake her up last week to go here or there. i hate waking up sleeping babies.
anyhow, we put frankie's hair in a cute tiny pony and off we went to alecia's!
my goal for my alone time was to finish decoupaging addie and frankie's names and put them on their wall. hooray, i finished! didn't (and still haven't) gotten them on the wall, but at least they're all ready to go, right?
i am not crafty.
i keep trying to be, but i'm not. and i don't really enjoy trying to be. i still keep trying, but... it's just not really there. this project wasn't without mishaps. first of all, my f, k, and both d's were too big for the 12x12 scrapbook paper i had. so i got wrapping paper, but that didn't work too well. hopefully no one will notice. and that right there is one of the big reasons that i'm not a good crafter! i'm always like "meh, good enough." another mishap was that despite checking and checking again, i put the paper on the "i" backwards. i didn't think it looked too bad, but i resolved to do the other "i" right. despite my resolve, i put that paper on the wrong side of the "i" also. i'm just that awesome. then i cut the "r" backwards too. see why i don't like crafting?
later that day when we dropped addie off at school we had fit #3.
she decided, as the kids were lining up to go into school, that she didn't want to go. i walked on up like normal, thinking that she would just follow me. but she didn't. she stayed stubborn by the car. so then i asked mrs. watson if she would try to persuade her over. addie refused. then mrs. watson went and talked to her for a few minutes and then she and addie came happily walking by, right to the front of the line.
that girl is obsessed with being the line leader.
seriously.
then for naps i let frankie use the ipad to wind down after stories.
15 minutes later...
friday night was the high school talent show so i drove lex and friends, and chris ;) to the school and then also picked them up. while they were gone, the missionaries came over and we all visited for a few hours, love those guys. :)
and that wraps up (and puts a bow on!) november.
