saturday morning was breakfast with santa at oakville elementary.
addie wasn't thrilled to go, but matt promised her that she didn't have to see santa if she really didn't want to. she reluctantly agreed. we ate some yummy cafeteria food... and then did some crafts.
then we checked out the silent auction. as we walked down the long row of baskets addie saw me writing my name on items i wanted to bid on. the very last basket was a fancy fairy basket and addie decided she wanted it.
how cute is she?
she totally wrote her name and then i told her our phone number and we bid on the fairy basket.
unfortunately there was a lot of bidding on the fairy basket, and it really wasn't worth it. so after the auction addie says, "ok, let's go get our fairy basket." and she was so super upset that we didn't win it that she threw a 4-year-old tantrum. i tried to explain it to her and even to tell the girl that won it congratulations and be happy for her, but she wasn't having any of it. and she insisted we leave. but sweet little franks wanted to stay for santa, which was the plan all along, so we stayed, and addie pouted.
a few minutes into the pout, a sweet cafeteria lady came by and saw addie pouting by herself and got to talking to her. so then, cause i felt like a loser parent ignoring my child (even though i think super nanny would approve) i explained to her what was going on and she was like "ooooh, you want a basket? i'm gonna get you a basket!" and she went back to the cafeteria and brought addie out a "healthy food" basket with real oranges, bananas, and a stuffed corn on the cob. and the temperamental 4-year-old was appeased. :)
and grateful. i made sure she was grateful.
after waiting for-ev-ah to see santa (they gave numbers so we were waiting for ours to be called, but then they stopped giving numbers and never announced it, so we waited in line for about an hour) frankie happily sat on santa's lap and told him all her hopes and dreams. ;)
in that special 2-year-old way.
she loved it, she was totally just chillin' with him.
while we waited in line for-ev-ah, i had talked to addie about talking to santa and she decided she could talk to him but not sit on his lap.
so there ya have it.
also, i have been learning a lot of patience in the addie/michelle clothing war. addie has been mourning the loss of her summer wardrobe for awhile now, so leggings and long sleeves have become our friends. and she absolutely can't wear jeans because they are so "cannoying." and there's really only like, 5, things that she does like to wear over, and over, and over, and over...
patience, patience, patience!
the breakfast was fun. i ended up flying solo so matt could work on christian's batting cage with him. delaney stayed home to sleep and then when she woke up lexi watched her.
the boys got the 4 corner posts cemented into the ground and then.... that's where we are now.
ah well.
at least it was a fun morning. :)
