to catch us up:
(quick style because i have no pictures because my phone is supah lame)
((this is hard to do without my phone pictures/calendar to remind me what the heck we did all week!))
monday:
alexis stayed home from school with a headache. we hung out and had some good talks, so it was nice having her home. then we cleaned a little and made taco bar and then mccombs came over for fhe. laura gave a nice lesson on dating and since it was so gorgeous outside we had our lesson on the deck.
(which i took pictures of, but you know.)
tuesday:
matt's been busy busy finishing up his final project for his class and he's been working on our home computer. so i came up with the bright idea to take all the kids to the commissary with me so that he could come home and work in peace. that way the kids are anxiously engaged, i get the shopping done (impossible w/the 3 little girls - i have no cart room!), and matt gets quiet work time.
i had lots of good coupons and that, coupled with the 3 extra cart pushers (lexi brought a friend), and i done lost my mind. my pre-coupon total was $430! what? i don't think i've ever spent that much! after coupons it came down to $370 (14% savings, holla), but still! i got lots of food storage stuff and now i guess it's time to tighten the purse strings for the rest of the month.
i hate that. ;)
that night something terrible happened. my phone lit up brightly and then faded to black. after several attempts at forcing it to quit/restart, i retired it for the evening hoping (praying) that it would just magically work in the morning. it didn't. i know it's a little ridiculous, but i rely on my phone so much! like when i get lost driving to joanns (for the 20th time), to text my kids (yes while they're in class), to check my calendar (heaven help me if i have anything scheduled this weekend), to check the weather, email, notes, the list goes on. it's very odd not having it and i'm not ashamed to admit that i don't like it.
(and this is written only half tongue in cheek.)
wednesday:
we ventured over the bridge for kale's playgroup birthday party. it's always so nice to sit and visit with friends, even when there are 10 kids running around screaming. alexis has been bringing friends with her to church, so i get to pick them up from school and make a big dinner on wednesdays. totally worth it. :) matt took kiddos to church, i bathed babies, and that's wednesday.
thursday:
i was the preschool helper and it was so fun. joann taught about summer and they were all crazy and wound up, totally ready for swimming and the beach. our letter was 'e' and one of the kids pulled out an envelope from the letter bag. joann asked if anyone knew what that was and after thinking for a minute addie said "email!" our little computer generation!
after school lexi went over to courtney's house. christian went to track and got assigned his events for monday. he's running the 100 meter dash and throwing the shot-put. he really wanted to do the long jump, but since he hasn't been in running club all year he got stuck with the leftovers. i hope he'll continue track in high school. i have always, always wanted my kids to be active and have fun and try new things. i constantly lecture them that this is their time to do that and they might find something they love. or something that might help pay for college, which would be great too. ;)
we picked him up, worked on archeology requirements for scouts, packed some foil dinners and 2 overnight bags, packed a picnic dinner for the little girls and i, + blankets, stroller, jams for laney, and headed to christian's bb game, only to find out after 20 minutes of playing at the park that the game had been cancelled. at 3:30. another phone casualty. i feel totally out of the loop.
never without things to do, i took him straight to elicio's for a scout campout before their archaeology field trip friday. elicio's moved into fischetti's old house, so on our drive i prepped addie.
"we're going to izzy's old house, but remember, she doesn't live there anymore right?"
then there were several long talks about why izzy moved to utah, when can we see her, where are her toys, why does she have a new daddy, and so on. (and on and on)
when we pulled up to elicio's i went to unbuckle addie and she smiled huge and said "i'm so excited!!!" broke my heart a little bit. so then we talked again about how izzy didn't live there anymore.
sweet girl. :)
matt presented his final project and it is generally believed by all that he got an 'a' in the class. one class down, woo-hoo!
friday:
matt was up and out bright and early for dc. he'll be making that commute for 2 weeks, including weekends. boo on that.
alexis left for school in a very grumpy mood. she's been wearing some things that i don't approve of. i think i have been pretty lax (for better or probably for worse) about her wardrobe, but as it goes with things like this, she's really been pushing the limit lately. i asked her to change today. she refused. repeat. then i gave her the choice that if she chose to be disobedient she would be home all weekend with no friends. she still didn't budge. then i added that she'd be helping with some extra chores in addition to the no friends. she finally happily agreed to change and before she left gave me a kiss and told me how much she loved me and thanked me for watching out for her.
i wish.
christian is working on his archaeology merit badge today, and then going with elicios to the father/son campout tonight. seems like every year matt has navy work during the father/son campout. bummer.
little girls and i are headed to the strawberry patch with friends today.
and i am taking my big camera that i love so much but haven't taken out lately because i've been like a single mom a lot (matt's been soooo busy!) and not wanting to carry the huge camera bag in addition to all my other bags. really, i feel like i should just take a suitcase everywhere i go. it's ridiculous!
caught up. :)
