christmas on the square

after an all-nighter of black friday shopping, sleeping till 10, then painting 3/4's of our basement, we bundled up and headed out to christmas on the square. the weather was so nice, after about 5 minutes i took my coat off altogether. one bad side of the nice weather though, is that everyone and their brother was there.
me + lack of sleep + achy body + huge crowd = michelle of zero patience.

i was feeling it from the second we got there.
but i love christmas on the square, we've gone every year, and i really didn't want to miss it, so i tried to push through the pain.
 it went ok
the good:
they have a super cute petting zoo and miss frank'n'beans loves animals!
even addie got in on the animal action.

they also each got to ride a pony, for a very nominal monetary donation.
our little downtown is so super cute and i love walking around down there.
they had a cute parade with firetrucks that the girls loved and then santa rode in and lit the huge christmas tree, which the girls also loved.
i got to spend time with my wonderful family that i love so much.
lex and chris (and robin!) were there too, they just ditched us as soon as we got there.
the bad:
*we waited upwards of 45 minutes to take the girls on a train that stopped service because of the parade and never started up again. consequently, the girls didn't get to ride anything (other than the ponies, i guess), and addie was a little upset.
*it was sooooo crowded!
*i (the line holder) was behind 3 of the most obnoxiously loud screaming boys ever! normally that wouldn't really phase me, but i was already dragging and it was bad.
*addie threw a fit because she had been promised popcorn, but when we didn't see it on our way out we decided to skip it, thinking it wouldn't be that big a deal to her. and it was.
*i might have had a little meltdown upon arrival at home.

the good:
(again)
there's always room for improvement and i have a feeling next year's christmas on the square will be fabulous!

Love it. I'm glad I'm not the only one that has melt downs.
