Saturday

saturday morning we headed over to the library to make good on our summer reading program, on the very last day, of course. after we picked up our free books i let the girls roam a little. the computers are always so fun.
i was looking for some books of my own and when i came back, here was frankie.
she is so funny and big!

lexi was at cheer tryouts all day. so that afternoon laura and i decided to head out to st. clements island to check out the blackistone lighthouse. after the museum we boarded the water taxi. laney was thrilled!
she warmed up to things a little bit. see how excited she was?
the water was super choppy and i think she got a little scared.
she kind of burrowed her head into my arm and clung to me.
so cool! you can kind of make out the huge cross to the left of the lighthouse.
the cross is a replica of the one they put up to commemorate the first catholic mass in the americas.
(or in maryland? i can never remember specific details...)
as soon as we landed we went straight to the ligthhouse. first we went up some circular stairs. then the fun started. i got to climb up this ladder up into a tiny little square at the top.

yeah, we barely fit.
and delaney was still thrilled.
it was pretty cool up at the top.
see the huge cross.
but that darn delaney still wasn't impressed.
there's virginia across the water there.
awesome little beach.
we're totally planning to bring the boat out here for a day-o-fun!
they just finished rebuilding this in 2008 and i think they did a great job.
the cute lighthouse volunteer was on the porch waving.
we asked one of the other volunteers to take our picture.
notso-hotso.
so we had to divide and conquer and take eachothers pics.
then we walked around the island a little.
she finally crashed. for a few minutes at least.
we had a great time at the lighthouse and then since david and the big kids were at the temple, we stayed at their house for dinner. while she cooked i researched lighthouse cruises,
making big plans!
