6 month check-up

miss d had her 6 month check-up on wednesday.
waiting in the waiting room.
she weighs 15.05 pounds (25th %, skinny lady!) and is 26 3/4 inches long (88%, long lady!).

"mom, whats going on here?"
"yeah, not smiling at you either..."
she's very handsy and into everything.
so she helped the dr out a little bit with her exam.
she did not want her mouth looked into.
christian was with us taking pictures and i love this look at him, like, save me brotha!
when the dr tried to look in her mouth she started doing her pilates.
silly girl.
and chris had to get this picture of after her shots.
she cried for about 5 seconds and was done.
such a good girl!

i left her appointment feeling stressed, worried, and annoyed.
we got a new dr this time (new to the practice) and she kinda treated me like i haven't got a brain.
she asked me questions like "is she still in a carseat?" and "you have working smoke detectors in your home?" even after i told her that delaney was the 5th child.
and then she made a big deal about her weight. her percentile went down since last time and the ratio of her height to weight is such that she's almost at failure to thrive, and next time if she hasn't gained enough weight they'd like to run some bloodwork.

ok.

she's 6 months old and crawling, sitting up, babbling, and starting to pull herself up on things.
she smiles and is alert and happy.
what about that means failure to thrive???
i do need to feed her solids now that she's so mobile
(and i came home and immediately mashed up an avocado for her)
but really, i think she's fine.

but then i was so worried that i decided to look up the siblings 6 month stats:

alexis
15.1 lbs, 26 in.

christian
17.5 lbs, 26.6 in.

addie
16.14 lbs, 27 in.

frankie
18.5 lbs, 27 1/2 in.

and then the runt of the litter,

laney
15.05 lbs, 26 3/4 in.

then i really started to worry because delaney was the biggest when she was born (9.12) and the smallest now. and lexi was only 6.2 lbs at birth so that means she gained 9 pounds when lanes has only gained 5. and then i worried and worried and worried some more.

and that just makes me more annoyed. why am i letting a dr that i met for 15 minutes make me question my body (that has done perfectly well for 4 other children) and my babies body? (that does more than most other 6 month olds)
i'm sure dr's are all very well meaning, i just wish they would use some common sense sometimes instead of just by the book all the time.
and i will remember to request that we only see dr. miller from now on.

ok, now that i'm over that rant.
bonus pic:
addie's been leaving little drawings like these ev.ery.where.
kind of annoying, but also super cute.

she's so ready for school!
