pont lookout lighthouse and st. george island

we had another lighthouse expedition on wednesday afternoon.

we took the whole crew just a few miles south to cute little point lookout lighthouse.

we walked around the museum and then made our way over to the lighthouse.

they have the cutest houses out there! we just fell in love!

everyone had fun ringing the bell.

even lanes and i.

going into the lighthouse we had to duck down into a short little door.

then it was time to climb.

delaney wasn't able to go up, so she stayed happily with the lighthouse lady.

she's such a good baby. and the employees there were very sweet.

it was tiny at the top and all enclosed so it felt like a million degrees.

undaunted, we made those kids pose for pictures anyway.

then we all had to get down through this little hatch and then down a steep ladder.

it was a little bit scary with all the littles.

thankfully we have lots of good helpers!

then the lighthouse buddies had to get some pictures with the fresnel lens.

and the beautiful view.

they have some kind of refinery or something out there also.

that's why there's no swimming allowed, i guess the water gets super deep and dangerous.

then we went and walked down the pier.

the air was sweet and the breeze was cool and i just could have stayed out there all day.

we sat on the dock behind them and fed laney and watched the jellyfish and fought the urge to jump in.

from there we adventured over to st. george island where i fell in love again!

seriosuly, this place could be soooo cool!

and we all loved this cute pink house.

we told the kids that when it's freezing outside and they're sitting in their classrooms dreaming of summer, they're going to remember these adventures and wish they could go back and do them again.

i know i will.

when we got home addie said she had a headache and when i checked her she had a low fever.

christian had an interview at church so we had to venture out there anyway.

she was sweet and mellow.

thankfully it didn't last long and she's all better now. :)
