Marina

Oh my Delaney. There's something about the baby of the family, and this sweet girl.
The adversary would lure her away and we are fighting like anything to protect and keep her.

So we have struggled with her myobrace and retainers and so many times I've been like, does this even matter when there are so many bigger fish to fry? And we've made deals and she's barely kept her end of the bargain so many times. Anyway, theres a singer she loves and we found she was coming to concert, but her show in DC was on a Sunday. We stuck to our guns about not going on Sunday, even though it would have been loads easier and cheaper, and decided a night away with just Delaney in Philadelphia would not be the worst thing. So then I tried bribing her for retainer wearing, again. I know, stellar parenting. Sometimes I'm just at my wits end.

So again, she didn't wear her retainer as needed and the dentist had to order new molds again. I had already bought tickets, but was just done with the shenanigans. And then I talked to Amy and she encouraged me to take Delaney, just as a bonding trip, to decouple it from her retainer and just enjoy spending time with her - which I do even though she can be tough, she's really not tough at home. And when we prayed about it, that felt right.

As a sidenote, she decided one day that she'd wear her retainer and I'll be doggoned if she hasn't worn it every day and her teeth look amazing. What was it that made her stubborn little heart acquiesce? I'm sure I don't know. She just decided

Anyways, on Wednesday I picked her up early from school and we headed up to Philadelphia.
We listened to Marina and got ourselves pumped up for her concert.
Bathroom and water break at Royal Farms because Matt has got to get over his vendetta.
I booked our hotel last minute and found a screaming deal for a Bed and Breakfast on Hotels.com.
It was in such a cute neighborhood and autumn is just the most beautiful time to travel!
We had stopped for a quick dinner on our way, so we had a few hours before our concert so we cleaned up and relaxed in our cute apartment.
I sat in a chair by the window and seriously I could get used to this kind of view.
One creepy'ish thing is that we checked into the brownstone right next door and then went nextdoor to the building with our little apartment, and when we went upstairs we found that our door was ajar. We searched the apartment and found it safe, but it creeped us out a smidge.
The concert was standing room only, so we took an Uber to the warehouse and stood in line for a few hours to make sure we got a good spot.
This girl was so excited!
The next phase of waiting was inside, shoulder to shoulder with a few hundred Marina lovers.
I wasn't the oldest person there, but I was definitely in the rankings.
There was a pretty terrible opening act. She wore headphone/earplugs and the music was so loud we couldn't understand one word. I started to get worried because I am quite old and my hearings not what it used to be. Thankfully Marina's music was at a normal concert volume.
The crowd loved her! It was so fun because everyone was singing along and cheering and she is a really good performer.
The concert ended around 10:30 and then we caught an Uber home, after 2 Uber's were within minutes of picking us up and then diverted for unknown and frustrating reasons.
we finally were picked up by the third one summoned.
Delaney's first concert was a huge success!
