July 30th

Our Wednesday activity was to drive out to Connecticut to see our mom and dad’s headstone. We managed to take just 3 cars - Tom’s family in Amy’s van with max and d, Damian’s truck full of their family, and the jolly green with every seat filled with us, Amy, and Frey and Taylor.

My pictures are going to be all out of whack because of blogging troubles. We let Henners check out the grass and like most of our babies before him, he hated it.
“But why?”
It’s about an hour and a half drive out to the veterans cemetery.
And it was hot outside like the surface of the sun.
We brought chocolate for our mom and a Diet Coke for our dad. We weren’t sure what to do, so we all took a drink from his Diet Coke to enjoy for him.
This still feels weird to see.
I’m so glad we were able to add some of our mom’s ashes so she has a headstone too. ❤️
I miss my parents and am so grateful I was raised in a safe, warm, loving home and that I was taught the gospel and how to serve.
We are a far from perfect crew, but we love each other and enjoy spending time together and that counts for a lot.
It was nice to be there with 4/6 of my siblings and Lexi’s family.
We had stopped for a restroom break on the way up and ended up going in a Lowe’s and I love walking through the store all together. Sometimes they comment on us looking alike and sometimes we just get stares.
Heading home I pulled out my roadside attractions app and found Avery’s Sodas. They used to give tours, but now they just offer their quirky sodas in their little warehouse store.
It was a fun stop and we all picked some fun drinks - pumpkin pie, honeycomb, and more creative things like monster boogers. Matt and I also brought home a vintage crate from there that we love.
Home to Sandy’s authentic pasta bolognese, or as my Aussie friends like to call it - Spag bowl - and a precious baby Ruby arrived from Alabama! For dessert we had ice cream and games.
I think our parents would be happy with our day and proud of us in our lives.
