Family heirlooms

Amy, Sandy, Henry, and I were talking around midnight Saturday night, when the house lightly shook and there was a loud noise. We thought an airplane was flying low, that's about how long it lasted and how the house shook. And then I saw that there was a tiny 3.0 earthquake with the epicenter less than a hundred miles from the house. There was a group in the jacuzzi and a group driving and neither felt anything, but Alli and Chris did at their air bnb.
We spent the next day cleaning after the wedding celebration, which went super fast since there were 20+ workers. The next thing we did was to go through some of my dads things. Letters, pictures, the last few trunks of the really important stuff. Since Christian is in the Army, he wanted all of the military stuff, which was great because no one else did. He and Jeanne had left that morning to get a head start on our road trip, so I sent him a picture of this cool blanket.
Peekaboo!
It's hard going through memories and there was a trunkful of things that no one really wanted - old cameras, an old radio, etc. I'm not ready to make a decision to get rid of it, so all the leftovers came home with us. One of my friends told me it took 5 years to be emotionally able to fully go through her moms things after she passed, and that feels about right. We packed and ate leftovers and planned for the next days road trip.
