Our big family excursion in NY was a pedicab tour of Central Park planned for my birthday.
We all got out on time (!) and rode the train straight into Grand Central Station.
Just 2 aunties with their babes. Everyone took turns holding/wearing the babies - and everyone was good and patient about waiting their turn.
It was a perfect day! In the 80°’s and cloudy, so nice.
Zachy was my buddy as we paraded through manhattan on our way to Central Park.
Just a newly minted 47-year-old and her forever boyfriend.
We met up with our convoy of pedicabs and divided up into our cabs.
After this shot I took sweet Ruby into the tunnel and out of the sun.
The already wedded couple to be celebrated!
Ruby’s first time in New York! And riding a bike! And meeting most of her family!
Queen of the hill.
They’d stop our bikes every few minutes for us to explore.
The Ruby tunnel.
It was a fun way to explore the park. I remember my dad saying what wonderful forethought it took to keep the park separate and safe from the growing and expanding city, and I always think of that when we visit. Such a wonderful place.
Matt loves the NY rock.
The bikes are electric, so don’t feel too bad for our cabbies.
I love that Erick jumped right into the thick of the family fun!
Possibly one of the dumbest pictures ever taken. Amy wanted to delete it, but I’m never one to shy away from terrible pictures.
#nailedit
We do love a photo shoot.
The group we lovingly call "the outlaws." Matt's the crowning member of the crew since he's been around more than 20 years.
And the grands!
(remember I'm working in less than ideal circumstances here, so pics are out of order)
So many pedicabs.
After our pedicabs we grabbed lunch and then Alli wanted to treat everyone to ice cream. We were on our way to check out Times Square, but dun, dun, dun! It started to rain.
Lightly at first, and then pouring.
It wasn’t in the forecast, and then boom, it was. And then it was forecast for the next several hours.
It. Was. Wild.
Quinn and Delaney worked together to protect Henners and keep him dry.
We were drenched and a little miserable, but we made the express train and found seats.
Just an Uncle Tom looking out over his family. Alli and Chris and Frey and Taylor stayed in DC and also, incidentally, stayed dry.
He pulls at his collar when he’s anxious. ❤️
Poor Judah does not love rain, but he was a trooper!
I can smell this picture.
Our ponytails would randomly drip down our necks throughout the ride. It was not nice.
A bunch of happy and cold adventurers!
Just a couple sopping wet Raiders.
Angel baby Henners slept through the whole ordeal! And even though we were dripping and uncomfortable, we were still smiling.
You just have to laugh.
We got home, dried off, and Sandy bbq’d up hamburgers and hot dogs and we enjoyed ice cream cake and everyone said their favorite thing about me which actually was very sweet and made me cry. Adi and Alexis are my best gift giving kids right now and both got me sweet gifts and Adi made sure Matt knew exactly what I wanted too and sent it to Amy’s for me.
It was such a lovely day.
