our day started around 9 which i was actually pretty pleased with.
delaney, who had an early morning feeding, slept in till after 11.
niiiiice.
i enjoyed the last teeny bit of egg nog until christmas season 2013.
starting off healthy, we decided to take a walk to check out the new construction in our neighborhood. it changes weekly!
here's how we roll.
addie inherited our old calendar and practiced her number writing.
we enjoyed a very pared down "christmas dinner" as a new years day lunch.
don't judge.
addie cut her finger and was bleeding for the first time, maybe?
she started crying when she saw the blood and started saying
"oh no! it's red! it's red!"
after all that trauma she needed some daddy cuddle time and this is how that ended.
sometimes she and frankie will say "i don't feel good, i need to go to the doctors office," so i started telling them that they don't need to go to the dr, because they have dr. mom.
so now they say they have dr. mom too.
anyway, a nap is just what dr. mom ordered.
and some rosey cheek kissing.
dr. mom is all about cheek kissing. :)
the elders came over around 3.
sad news, elder anderson is leaving us.
(because they can hug boys)
after 5 months here, he's getting transferred. :(
it was a sad day, but i know we'll see him again.
he might even be my real son someday.
his words, not mine.
he wrote me the sweetest letter, addressed to momma ray, and totally made me cry.
he's a keeper, that guy.
in a missionary world where success is often measured by how many people you contact, teach, and baptize, these guys rose above just wanting numbers to report. they made a difference in the lives of a lot of people that have already been baptized, people and things that can't be quantified. i know they have made a big impact in my big kids lives and i am so very grateful for them.
and tomorrow elder vaterlaus will bring someone new over for dinner and we'll try not to judge him just because he's not elder anderson. it'll be hard though, not gonna lie!
after a sad goodbye, i took the big kids up to celebrate our last night of break by watching parental guidance at our super ghetto, yet still fully priced movie theater, annoying. it was cute and i love bette midler. and i love popcorn and the big kids and matt for watching the little girls.
delaney didn't get the memo that we don't need to stay up till midnight again tonight, so now i'm hanging out with her. in her defense, she was asleep but got woken up by frankie's bedtime fit.
we played with baby minnie for a long time.
and now she's helping me blog to finish the day.
so far i'd give 2013 a solid 8 out of 10.
