Christmas morning 2018

The girls came in our room around 8. They had already raided their stockings per Matt’s families tradition and seen our family gift from Santa - a new projector that will someday adorn our basement and provide hours of movie theater style entertainment.

We went around each opening one present at a time. Some years we do this and some we don’t. Just depends on our fancy. 🤷‍♀️ Delaney loved her new kicks from Bubba.

So precious.

Frankie loves her new jewelry box from sissy.

I love grateful kids.

Addie loved her Roald Dahl book set from auntie henna.

Sissy loved her “Best Sister Award” necklace Addie made her. She wore it all day.

This is just a random gift because I didn’t take many pictures of baby boy as he was still sick. He did love his 72 hour kit backpack/bug out bag. (Lu and Cade got one too, but I sent it to Montana)

Matt played with his race cars because boys will be boys.

And I loved my new warm winter coat from Matt (wearing it) and my very first Le Cruset pot courtesy of Amy and Sandy. 🤗

And this guy too, I love him too.

It was a wonderful and quiet Christmas morning with not too many gifts, it felt just perfect and not overwhelming. The bigs went to nap and the littles played and read and it was so nice having everyone at home. We only missed Cade, but the Air Force is selfish and he had to work, so we’ll take Lexi flying solo this time. Hopefully he can come next time too. We feel pretty grateful she was willing to come. Cade was supposed to have been out in the field over Christmas but then sadly didn’t have to. 😬

Christmas Eve family pics

Getting ready for family pictures is the best, as my face clearly shows.

It takes so long!

But Brian was a patient photog. And I didn’t know Delaney was laying across Bubba.

Aaaand we’re losing it... Going,

Going...

And gone.

Oh these crazies. I love them so.

And these Harry Potter lovers. They like to be so original and they all tested into a different house which i thought was  so fun.

Poor Bubba has been sick, and he’s also been working a ton, so he hasn’t gotten the rest he needs to get better. He laid on the couch and pretty quickly fell asleep, and he fell hard. He was sleeping so deeply that he was snoring and Lexi was cracking up. Poor baby boy!

And that’s a wrap on Christmas Eve 2018!

Christmas Eve pajama edition

The girls have been super crazy all day. This evening I sent them out to run several times because they’ve been jumping and bouncing off the walls.

It was finally time to open pajamas and we let Lu go first.

Then the boy. Except neither of these yahoos wear pjs, so they basically get workout gear. (Matt too)

Addie next! She got a rockin pair of Hufflepuff jams.

Frankie loves her Gryffindor pjs.

And Lanes was stoked about her Slytherin ones!

We did a little Christmas narration we found in The Friend and then read from Luke 2.

Delaney’s been in rare form all day. 🙄

Frankie and Lu. (Lu and I matched shirts)

Brian came over and read with us too. It was sweet, even though Bubba is super sick.

Christmas Eve day

After a pretty busy and full day of cooking on thanksgiving I definitely wanted to prep today for Christmas dinner. So I got my girls involved and we had a great time!

Everyone pitched in. It wasn’t all done perfectly but it beats doing it all myself.

We played lots of games in between.

And then at 4 we went to a Children’s Christmas Eve service at the Methodist church. Pastor Katie narrated our Community Christmas Concert and Matt and I really liked the idea of supporting her service.

It was so cute! She had the kids come up and had a felt show and had the kids smell frankincense and myrrh and lots of singing. Rainbow Ellie Sparkles showed up in a glass jar this morning so we could pick her up and take her around with us. My friend posted the idea and I thought it was so cute! They had fun bringing her with us to church.

We had appetizers for dinner and it was one of my favorite dinners in a long time. Guacamole and queso, spinach and cranberry dip, mozzarella sticks, jalepeno poppers, pigs in a blanket, potstickers, egg rolls, and shrimp cocktail. I heart all food.

Lexi got home and we played some more games until Chris finally made it home after 7.

We made Santa’s cookie plate and poured his eggnog.

Almost time!

Lexi’s home!

We got home from serving at 7:30am and all 6 kids were awake. 🙄 We thought that was all, but when I went to tell Addie we were gonna take a nap and that she was in charge, it was actually Lexi cudddling with Addie. They love their sissy!

After mid morning naps and the Dorns went home we played some games and chatted, which is exactly what Addie wanted to do.

Our girls!!! 💕

And at church. We had a special 1-hour-church meeting with lots of singing and talking of Christ. It was perfect. And after everyone stayed and chatted, which is one of my favorite kinds of Sunday.

Just missing the brother.

We stopped by Crabknockers after church to pick up our yummy stuffed ham. Our first full family picture in over a year and a half!

Crabknocker Mike was nice enough to cut our ham for us. And he said he’d never seen a stuffed ham done with purple cabbage and he’d tasted it and thought it was good. I gave him the rights to use it. 😂

Look at that SoMd yumminess!

We got our first carolers Sunday afternoon. alway so fun! And Sarah and Debby made me a beautiful Christmas wreath. 🤗

Later that evening we got our second set of carolers. We love the Christmas spirit!

5th grade girls and randomness

The 5th grade girls in the LG have had monthly activities lately. Grace and Lauren hosted a fun Christmas sock exchange. They also play a game like Bingo or Pokeno, each girl brings $1 and the girl that wins donates her money to her favorite charity. Addie won the December party money - $16. 🤗

All their cute socks.

And oh my girls and the dogs they love.

This was last months at Danica and Lea’s.

Crazies.

I was at school the day the office ladies were decorating their tree. They’re so fun.

Random pic of our sweet baby bug and her sweet little chin dimple.

Crabknocker mike posted this during the thanksgiving break, they were prepping for stuffed ham season.

Idk?

And finally, Addie won the raffle to make a star for her teacher, so she made this star for Mrs. Burk. That girls got a heart of gold.

Catching up on ma blog!
