the last of the june catch up

after school got out in june, we stayed super busy.
alexis left for her 4th year of girls camp from june 21-25. she was not excited about it and came back still un-enthused. she says all they do is sing all day and it's really lame. oh well, one more year and then i won't make her go anymore.

christian left for boy scout camp on june 25. matt wasn't able to go this year, (because of our seattle trip) but it was fine and christian still had fun. josh sent lots of cute updates and pictures, but i can't find any of the pictures with christian now. that's what i get for being 2 months late. from the updates, here's what i gathered. there were lots of: super-cinnamony french toast, cutting of fingers, lost wallets and backpacks, and root beer chugging contests. christian got lots of merit badges (can't remember how many, 4 or 5 maybe?) and had tons of fun.

alexis went straight from girls camp (she got home june 25th, the day christian left for boy scout camp) to efy (especially for youth) on june 27th. becky drove alexis and gabby (they got to be roomies!) the long 4 hour trip down to southern virginia university. she had so much fun! living in dorms for a week, hanging out with friends all day, fun lessons and dances, and time away from the fam.
what more is there for a 15 year old?

since becky dropped the girls off, i got to pick them up. pick up time was 7 (am!) so i went to bed early and woke up at 2:30 to go get them. i felt like such an irresponsible parent because i didn't have a gps or phone with internet and i got going the wrong way for part of the trip. that added about an hour, because i couldn't get off the road where i had gone wrong. ugh. the drive was beautiful though! can't wait to go down to shenandoah this fall and see all the gorgeous fall colors!

so since i had added an hour to my trip i was, of course, running late. so i upped the speed for the last hour of the trip. i let lexi know that i was running behind and she told me to hurry because some of the kids were leaving and she really wanted me to meet them. soooo, i hurried. and got a ticket. :( i was in the town, literally less than 5 minutes away and got pulled over. i was so super sweet to the police officer, i thought for sure he was gonna let me go with a warning. i explained that i had been driving since 3am, i was late to pick up my daughter from efy, i didn't realize how fast i was going (it was downhill), and how sorry i was. and he wrote me a ticket anyway! i guess i don't have "it" anymore.
shocking, i know.

that saturday was also the last day of boy scout camp and we were taking the exact same route as the boys, so we were able to coordinate it and meet up for gas breaks. the girls were so excited to see their brothers! and maybe some of the other boys. ;) it was so cute. :)

anyways, the wednesday night that alexis was at efy and christian at scout camp, i went shopping while matt took the babies to the pool. it just happened to be the young womens pool party
(that i didn't know about because alexis was at efy).
matt and the girls had a blast!
matt had just bought an underwater camera for scuba diving, so he had that with him and got lots of fun pictures.
calling all nerds... oh here's a good one. ;)
and a brave underwater girl! she's fearless at the pool! her favorite thing is jumping in to whoever will catch her. christian even lets her jump and then catches her a few seconds after. she'll be swimming soon!
and this little water-hating baby has made great strides in her love-hate relationship with water. before we left for seattle, her favorite thing was to just walk right into the pool. she'd walk until she was underwater and then just flounder until we saved her. being in seattle set her back a little bit, (she's crying for baths again) but she still likes the pool.
a sample of some of the cute pictures matt took of the young women.
there's another one of them under water.
and the after-pool-bubble-bath.
addie was too busy playing to pose, but this little ham was only too happy to oblige.
