june 3rd

we celebrated 2 of my beautiful daughters birthdays that day. this was the first year we celebrated them both on the same day. the past 2 years we celebrated lexi's on the 3rd and then addie's a few days later. we just weren't sure how alexis would handle sharing her birthday since, since addie was born her feelings on the subject have been a roller coaster. one day addie is a "birthday thief" and the next she loves that they are birthday twins. you just never know what your gonna get.

anyway, so on to the birthday festivities. i wanted to make a big breakfast for lex before she left for school. but then i realized that she doesn't really like breakfast foods. i think i often set myself up for failure as a mom because i do things that i would like, and then i get upset when the kids don't like it.
SO,
i made lex the one breakfast food she does like.
bacon.
she was happy and i saved myself some heartache.
yay! maybe i'm finally learning!

when addie woke up, she decided she wanted pancakes.
i had gone dollar tree crazy the night before their big day and got the girls some mylar balloons. then lexi got too cool that morning and decided i could maaaybe bring 1 to her when i took her lunch. so lucky addie got free reign on all 6 of them, all morning.

she held tight to those balloons all morning! it was so cute!
morning bed head. :)
she could have done this all day! as it was, we re-lit probably 10 times. how could i resist that goofy smile?!

i finished the cupcakes just in time and then we were off to drop some taco bell taco's, cupcakes, and lexi's balloon off at good ol' LHS. i paraded my gang in like so.
not pictured: addie holding onto lexi's balloon for dear life. we were a sight to behold.
my cupcakes started to wilt a little, but they were still delish.
birthday girl!
she couldn't get out of the office (and away from our circus!) fast enough.
i can't say that i blame her though.
next we were off to meet our buddies sarah and abbey at mcdonalds for addie's delicious birthday lunch. addie begged to take a balloon for her in the car too, and since we took lexi one, i decided to let her. well after our lunch, i of course forgot that our balloon was there and yes, you guessed it, the balloon flew away. :( i thought addie might like to see it fly away.
i was wrong.
she wigged out! she was crying and calling for her balloon to come back.
abby even gave her an early birthday present (tangled paint book, which she loves!) and that barely stopped her crying!
in the car she kept asking if we could go get her balloon so i told her that it floated up to heaven and grandma ray caught it for her. she seemed happy with that, but then she started saying "my grandpa will give my balloon back?" i told her that no, grandma would keep it safe for her. then she said "i know! we'll get an airplane and go get my balloon from my grandpa!" i told her, "oh man, too bad we don't have a plane!" and then she said "we can get our tools and build a plane to get my balloon!" so then i told her "i don't know how to build a plane." then she suggested that we go to the store to buy a plane to get her balloon back.
she's a persistent one!

anyways. in the spirit of birthdays, frankie busted out her birthday garb. then she got the balloon ribbon caught up in her foot. she walked around the house for-ev-er like that.
here's how she did it.
she's so cute. :)
oh, and she also learned how to open the front door.
UGH.

lex chose to go to asahi for her traditional japanese steakhouse birthday dinner.
not sure why christian looks demented. oh well.

addie loves their soup!
as soon as they lit the fire, both of the babies screamed. we told the chef not to worry about it, that we would take them away if he wanted to do more fun tricks, but he never did. :(
christian attempting to catch a shrimp in his mouth.
and lexi not attempting to.
when we came home it was on to presents and cupcakes.

addie loves cupcakes...
the opening of the presents.

even christian and franks got some from nani.
2 seconds after this picture, addie "helped" frankie unwrap it.
happy birthday girl!
after this, we showed lexi her birthday movie.
my sweet friend sarah and i worked forever to choose cute pictures of lex from birth-now and then put them all together on a slide show, and then set it all to music. it was a lot of work, but it turned out so so good! i cry every time i watch it! so lexi watched it and acted like she kind of liked it and i felt a little disappointed. then her friend marissa came over and she was like "watch my movie!" and then all throughout the movie she went on and on about how we always do things together and we're always going places and her friend kept saying how she wishes her family would do things together and that her mom would get up on the first day of school and take pictures of her. and then lexi went on and on about how i'm always taking pictures of everything.
it was cute.
she was happy.
and i knew she loved her movie. :)

then matt and i made a big production about putting addie to bed. we hugged her and gave her loves and let her know how loved and safe she is.
she was happy.

june 3rd has always been a good day for me.
