George Washington Monument in Baltimore

Right across the street from the library was a tall GW monument. We crossed over to check it out, and the little girls twisted daddy off their little fingers and asked him to climb it. And we were off!

It’s basically like a lighthouse, but more enclosed and small inside. They warned us that it could be difficult for people with claustrophobia or any health conditions. And it’s also 227 steps high. So about 25 steps in, D is done. We assured her all was well. 20 more steps, she wants to go back down. We all sing I am a Child of God to comfort her (not easy when you are chubby and climbing in an enclosed space on a hot day). She continued this pattern and at one point even cried, but daddy carried her a few steps and she calmed down.

And we all made it!

You can’t go outside, so that made d feel a smidge better.

Brave girl and strong dad.

These two are champion climbers. No complaining from them!

We enjoyed all the sights from atop the monument on each side.

And then made our way down. Matt took the lead in case anyone fell, and I brought up the rear. D did much better going down.

It. Was. So. Hot.

Love this guy!
