#39 Cylburn Arboretum

By the time we got to the arboretum the sky was getting darker and there was a definite chilly breeze in the air. Addie found a tree and was all like:

#hauntedmansion

Even the house looks haunted. And the grey sky added to the spookiness.

There were lots of fun things to climb and places to run.

“Take a picture, mommy!”

This used to be a families mansion, then a home for children, and now an educational center. They have a senses garden with pots of plants to see, smell, touch, and taste.

We found ourselves waiting for the slowpokes at the potties.

We hiked all through the beautiful grounds. This place was every kids dream!

The mansion (and everything) else was closed, despite signs saying it was open till 8.

This is Delaney’s new thing. 😂

The lord and children of the manor. (Said in my best British voice)

There she is! Our extra adventure companion.

They love portrait mode.

Yoga on the fountain. And also “take a picture, mommy!”

Addie was feeling contemplative.

We sat down in a garden grove completely surrounded by trees, and then it started pouring. I voted to stay mostly under the cover of the trees, but I was outvoted, so we sprinted for the porch. And then 60 seconds later the rain stopped and that was it.

Delaney looking creeped out. Or, as she used to say, “cweeped.”

“Take my picture doing a cartwheel!”

They could have played here for hours, exploring, climbing, catching. But more fun was to be had!

Let’s take a selfie!

They were so cute as we walked back to the car. They sang Christmas carols ala Studio C, their latest obsession. True confessions - I don’t like that show. 😩 But they were getting along so nicely and I want to remember this special moment, since it’s been a smidge challenging this summer.
