i have a hierarchy of sickness and what qualifies as sick enough to stay home, and this chic didn't meet the criteria. but since delaney and i were staying home, and she did have a cough and runny nose, i let her stay too. she was a busy little pest! and i say that in the most loving way. i figured since we were home, we would work on her valentines. i went shopping late last night to get supplies so we could work on them today. aaaaand then i left the wrapping paper, the first step to addie's valentine box, in matt's car. which he had with him at andrew's. uuuuuuugh. anyway, we went ahead and worked on her actual cards, so that was good. and then everyone was so excited when jodie and aubrey brought these treats by.
today was a beautiful day, but i couldn't get my engine revving enough to get outside. matt's been gone a lot lately and with everyone sick, i'm tired. and some days are inside days, even when it's gorgeous in february, so whatever. i did kick the girls outside into the backyard, where they happily played for a few hours. that's good, right? ;)
dinner was cooking by the time matt made it home, and after dinner we were ready to roll on some valentine work.
we got addie's valentine box fully done, i think. :) i am trying to teach addie the fine art of "less is more." she is fully in my "more is more" camp.
we all worked on it and it was mostly fun and just a little frustrating.
while i worked with addie, matt worked with frankie. and the girls flitted back and forth between us.
i picked some boxes (pinterest, yo!) that i thought would work and then let the girls choose from my whittled down list. same with the cards, and they each chose their own. it's always fun and interesting to me to say what their little personalities choose.
i took the girls up to bed so daddy could finish a project for me. delaney took the hair off all the legos and put them on her fingers. she so crazy!
since she's been napping so late, (again) she stays up after a&f go to bed. perfect time to work on her valentines!
we recruited bubba to help and it was fun and cute.
she picked a card with glasses on it that says "i have my eyes on you, valentine," and we glued googly eyes on them. she looooves them!
then she helped me finish off the project that matt helped with tonight. our fhe board! this has been 7+ years in the making! this was a rs activity project from back in nm. i had looked for hooks several times and just never found what i wanted, or really even much that was feasible. i finally sat down last week and told myself i was not getting up until i ordered hooks. then i had to buy screws small enough for this last night. laney and i filled our key chains and printed some more pictures, and hooray, it's done!
hallelujah!
