"there's a beacon in absecon."
our last lighthouse of the day, lucky number 22!
it was already dark when we got there which doesn't make for good pictures.
we still tried. :)
this is the tallest lighthouse in nj and it's pretty amazing.
the energy at absecon was so fun! there were tons of people there (including our biker friends) and everyone was so happy and excited. the stairs were lit up and it just looked so pretty.
and the views from the top! atlantic city at night is breathtaking! there were 3 night climbs on the challenge and we knew we had to do one of the tall lights.
it was our first night climb and it was just beautiful!
m - loved the lights on the stairs
l - lights on the stairs and the sunset
s - stair plaques, numbering each step,
(that was cool, and so nice to know exactly where you are and how many steps you have left)
found my shirt (shelly and laura exchanged their shirts for a better size here) and international lighthouse passport books
(we each bought one! might be wishful thinking, but we're all about making it happen!)
ya gotta try, right?!
it was so peaceful. you know the end of a really long day, when you know you are finally going to eat and get to bed, and you've gotten a ton done? that was the feeling we had up there. it was just awesome!
we went to dinner just right down the street at atlantic city bar and grill. we had to wait awhile and the restaurant wasn't the greatest, but we finally got to have a nice sit down meal! hallelujah!
after dinner we had a little drive down the coast to a little old b&b. the price was right, and it was cute, but definitely not the nicest place ever. poor shelly volunteered to sleep on the futon, and didn't have the best nights sleep. total bummer when we were all so tired already! but more on sundays adventure to come!
