our morning started bright and early! we ate a quick comfort inn breakfast and headed out for our day of fun! saturday started the official nj lighthouse challenge, but we, of course, had to see every lighthouse we could. so we started with this lonesome fellow.
smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood on this lonesome beach was this short and friendly old guy.
the sun was just gorgeous! just coming up through the clouds and everything was just perfect!
laura loved collecting shells and glass. i love to do that too, but i am a lady on a mission!
woo-hoo!
i have to check the doors, i just do. aaaand, it was open!!! this abandoned lighthouse's door was open!
"you guys! the door is open!!!"
"i can't believe you are going in!!!"
this has obviously become a hangout for teenagers and had graffiti and writing all over it.
it didn't smell good in there!
even putting my head up to the window was icky. it was soooo dirty in there!
poor old thang!
this was as far as i was going to climb. i am just so sad this guy is so dilapidated!
but then miss daredevil decides to climb further, and further, and...
to the top! can you see her head poking out the window?!
never one to be left behind, i followed after. a true case of monkey see-monkey do!
perfect motto for our weekend!
you guys, the first landing to the stairs was completely rotted out! it was not safe! and we all 3 climbed it! all by ourselves!
here's what we had to say about conover beacon:
l - sad, she's spray painted. "i had to climb that!"
m- the sky was beautiful, door was opened! we totally climbed a lighthouse by ourselves!
s - smiley face spray painted on top, teenagers writing all over the walls, scary to climb!
it was so fun driving up to it, going around the bend in the road and boom! hello, little lighthouse!
after we finally climbed down (scary!!!) my hands felt so dirty! i had to clean them in the super clean water. ;)
different angle? why not.
another peaceful beach. not the prettiest, but could have definitely spent some time there.
too bad we had a lighthouse challenge to conquer!
