The girls love this silly history cartoon called Oversimplified.
It is actually funny and interesting.
Anyways, years ago they watched one about the Pig Wars that happened in the San Juans, so we had to go to the British Camp while we were there to see where it all happened.
We love a good ol’ totem pole.
It’s a lovely space.
We hiked up where the officers houses were and enjoyed the views and walked through the gardens.

It was just about lunchtime so we stopped in Roche Harbor for a delicious lunch on the water.

Cutest little sleepy town. The girls and I shopped and got Matt a cute birthday hoodie.

Delaney was feeling okay but tired.

You can walk the whole of Roche Harbor in about 10 minutes.

After that we went to Friday Harbor (American camp, fyi) to shop and wait for our return ferry.

Frankie got some sushi for dinner.

Cuteness everywhere.

Wish we could bring some Washington state ferries to Maryland. It would make going to the beach so much easier!

As soon as we got onto our ferry I booked it over to check on my puzzle.

People had made a lot of progress, but there were still about 50 pieces left and I puzzled my little heart out to make sure I could finish it. There were about 6 pieces missing, but it was still very satisfying and I love that it was a communal shared task that I worked on with strangers. It would be fun to leave a note with the puzzle, a “Hey! I was here!”

I still had time after my puzzle to enjoy the ferry.

We stopped by the Island Market again for birthday cake, tillamook ice cream treats, and more brekkie sandwiches for Thursday morning.

Then we met up in the boys room where grandpa cut our mini cake into 6 slices with his pocketknife and we served them up in the hotel mugs.

Then Matt got a lovely rendition of happy birthday and that’s what we call a nice 56th!
