Deception Pass

That night Matt and grandpa had it rough. Grandpa started to feel sick and they both were coughing and kind of miserable. So Matt went out to see if he could see the bio illumination in the water and he could! He texted to see if I was awake but our room was cashed out and I’m super bummed we missed it.

Matt invited me for a walk before the girls woke up and I thought it was just going to be a cute little harbor walk like the one we’d taken the night before, but no.

He took me all around the hills and craziness and it was a good workout!

We stopped by our little harbor store for a cute salmon for our wall and a few last pictures.

We loved our few days on the islands.

We got to the ferry and pretty quickly realized we might not make the one we’d hoped for, and we didn’t. Thankfully they had another ferry in an hour and a half and we were second in line for that one.

So we explored all around the terminal.

And did some more souvie shopping.

On our walk that morning Matt had pointed out these glass electrical insulators and said that his mom had always liked them, and then as we shopped in a cute little consignment shop we found some! I encouraged him to pick one out. I love it, the significance to his mom and our fun trip to Orcas Island.

Our last ferry ride was the warmest yet.

Look ma, no coat!

Matt and Delaney were feeling mostly better but now grandpa was down for the count. On our way home we stopped by Deception Pass and walked out onto the bridge.

It’s high and I can never relax when we’re up high and the kids are around. My mommy heart just stays nervous the whole time. But it was fun to see and show the girls this place we’d been to so many times. And we saw a big ol’ seal swimming around so that was cool.
