it was a good cws weekend. we didn't get a lot done, but that's ok sometimes.
on friday matt and i took frankie and laney and ran some errands then ate a delicious lunch at salsa's. it was a fun morning with my main squeeze, and #4 and #5.
speaking of #4, we were playing in the basement one day and came across a crazy looking little bug. frankie immediately said "oh! that's the bug that crawls into your ear!" sure enough, it was an earwig that she'd recognized from her obsession with her bug book. i was pretty impressed. :)
that night we went to josh oakes baptism. after he was baptized, as they were getting dressed, tanya had put out cards and crayons for people to draw pictures and write messages to josh. shelly and my artists made a beeline for the art table. our little right-brainers!
saturday was designated to be a sewing day. i can sew if someone sets it all up for me and absolutely nothing goes wrong. other than that, i got nothing. matt is much more patient and can work with the machine. so i thought if we combined our meager sewing energies that maybe we could get the last few merit badges, seabase patches, and daisy petals sewn on. the way things worked, matt sewed all day and i did everything else. that's sometimes life in a big family, but matt was able to get everything sewn that we wanted and that was the goal, so yay! so what if it took 8 hours. ;)
this hard working guy also mowed the grass, front and back.

we had absolutely NO WHERE to be on saturday! it was amazingly wonderful! actually, my schedule feels strangely un-busy, which is amazing, but weird. feels like i'm forgetting something! there was our annual neighborhood jingle mingle at the clubhouse saturday night that i always like to go to, but i wasn't about to put on a bra for that. it was a lovely, quiet day. and then chris rented blended from the redbox and we all laughed at the parts we could relate to and shook our heads at the parts we couldn't. life is different when you have a big, beautiful, blended family, but it's all good.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
in the spirit of soaking up the last few weeks of glorious 1:00 church, we made a big breakfast today. cheesy eggs, maple sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, and chocolate chip pancakes. it was deee-licious and we weren't hungry until we got home from church at 4.

church was good too. the moran's spoke about self-reliance. we have spent a lot of $$$ lately, and with one in college, one whose college savings account - the savings account that grandma and grandpas have contributed to, and mama and daddy have scraped together for 18 years - quickly dwindling, we have been trying to cut back where we can. i have a tendency of meal planning and then buying everything i need for those meals, and also things on sale. and then i'm not great about using what is in my freezer, so we've been working on that. in the spirit of eating food we've had for probs a little too long, we had shrimp jambalaya for dinner and i've been sautéing frankie fish for lunch - she loves it! getting creative over here and it feels good. there is a weird sense of satisfaction when we finish something off, is that strange? probably. we're also looking at other money saving ventures like maybe a pellet stove. trying to make it all work.
i taught about esther in my primary class today. i have enjoyed delving into the old testament this year and learning more about so many classic stories. i was so excited to teach about a woman from the scriptures today and i had... 1 girl in class. bummer! still a good class. i love them. :)
the sunset was gorgeous tonight! the whole drive home, the trees are in their full autumn splendor, and with the golden hour light, it was just breathtaking.
