The alarm went off at 6:30 and I was like, no! What’s that?! The sleep fatigue is kicking But there were things to do and lighthouses to see. Can you spot her?
I love the first lighthouse spotting! We rigged three phones together to get this shot.
She’s the Cape Savudrija Lighthouse in Northwestern Croatia.
We popped over to see her on our way to our 10:00 church in Trieste.
Matt and D explored for a few minutes but we didn’t have much time.
Matt saw this interesting painting down by the shore.
Love.
Double love.
We drove through a corner of Slovenia on our way to church so we had to also stop and buy our vignetta, which pays all your tolls basically and if you get pulled over without it, you’re in big trouble.
We also had to stop for a restroom and look at this view! The restroom had a side entry and it was the cleanest and best smelling outside entry convenience store restroom ever. And the view just puts it right over the top.
We met for church in a cute little building in Trieste, Italy. Up narrow city streets, up, up, up. Their bishop spoke and we sang È risorto! É risorto! And it was lovely. Then after church they invited us to stay for their linger longer, which we would have loved, but didn’t start for an hour. So we had to bail, but they also gave everything sweet little Happy Easter bags. ❤️ To have a gospel family all over the world is such a blessing.
We checked out this beautiful church next, and everyone was coming out with their large palm fronds or smaller palm/flower numbers. Palm Sunday and Holy Week. ❤️
Next week popped over to another lighthouse - Farro Della Vittoria.
It was a beautiful walk up to it, high in in the hills overlooking the city.
But then, whomp whomp, it was closed until April 1st, even though Google said it was open.
Goodbye for now, little cutie!
And off to Slovenia we went for real this time! My 28th country!
And for good measure, our cute church treats.
It made me think about little treats for when people come to our ward on special days.
We were headed straight to Ljubljana, but kept seeing signs for Postojna Cave and we figured since we were right there, we might as well check it out (it was on my list for tomorrow)
So at 1:30 we stopped and our tour wasn’t till 3, so we wandered the pretty grounds and walked through all their stores.
We took a little train into the depths of the cave - almost 400 feet down.
I’ve been in my fair share of stalactite caves, and the train was a nice touch.
15 minute train ride, then walk for 45 minutes, gift shop/pictures, wait for train for 15 minutes then another 15 minute train ride back up. Whoops - flash!
It was actually really cool.
They think this guy is 2-3 million years old. 🤣
The tites and mites pictures are courtesy of Delaney.
I only wish I’d thought to have addresses ready to send a postcard from down there.
This is what the train looked like.
On our first ride we were told 2 people per seat and Delaney said she’d ride by herself, I offered! And then she had to sit by a random guy so they could fill up the train. 🤣 Again. I sat by an old lady for her on the way back.
Our favorite part was the giant chandelier room, but it’s really hard to get a good picture so Adi took a video but that’s not great either.
After our cave time, we drove over to see Predjama Castle, which was built into the some of a cliff. We decided timer didn’t need the tour and would be happy just seeing it from the outside.
Another really cool thing to see.
I’m not a fan of “things” right on top of people. I always put them away from the people. But maybe I’m wrong. 🤷♀️
I think I nailed it.
Another 50 minute drive and we finally arrived at our Loft. There’s Delaney on her couch bed and Adi and Frankie upstairs on one bed, and then Matt and I will be on the other one.
We ate our cup of pasta and we’ve had just enough food for all day. And a little spare. Matt and Frankie went for a walk, Adi is showering, D is vegging, and I am making sure I stay caught up on blogging. A much needed early night! And how about that precious Ruby!!!
