it's been a big week of change at our house. that is totally the norm of parenthood. always changing, always evolving, growing, learning.
first: numero uno
(i've taken to calling them by the number of their birth order, and i have to say, i kinda like it)
started college on monday. i would post a picture but ever since lisa left on sunday i haven't received any, despite numerous requests. big mama might have to just go join twitter or do more with my instagram account than just filter my pictures.
we have texted every day and she is still really liking it. i am doing good too. i am just too happy and excited for her to be sad. and she was really, really ready to go fly. i've had a few pangs of emotion. like when i locked the front door and turned off the porch light sunday night and realized that no one else was coming home, it was just the 6 of us. or when i cleaned out her bathroom. or when i put clean clothes into her almost empty bedroom. i miss my girl. but i am so glad she is in idaho! she needs to be there and it is good.
then: on tuesday numero tres done lost her first tooth.
then: wednesday numero dos got his license to drive! 2/5 of my children are licensed and insured drivers! i add the "insured" part in on account of the exorbitant amount we are still paying to "hold alexis' spot" on our insurance. still gets me steamed.
anyhow, back to our fun changing times.
back when the big kids got visits from the tooth fairy there was no such thing as pinterest. those poor big kids. i know it's not important (matt tells me all the time), but i had the time and i enjoy it. and i don't overly stress and i always go less overboard then i want to because i'm not very good at creative.
anyhow, our tooth fairy, glenda, left a cute trail of fairy powder from the window to her bed, a small bottle of fairy powder, a glittery letter A, and a glittery $5'er wrapped up like scroll.
little sister is sooooo envious of big sisters missing tooth! she's a good sport though!
happy crazy haired girl this morning!
glenda decided (although she did not let us know because teeny tiny notes are harder to print out than some people might think) that the first tooth was worth $5, but subsequent teeth will be of lesser value.
it's the small things that are the most magical. :)
i'd say this milestone was passed successfully.
now on to the boys fun.
on account of this little lady napping in the car (she really was napping, even though she looks like she's faking here), he had to run in and out of the mva on his own a couple times.
back and forth for me to sign papers. he was so excited that he was actually running. until i took a picture, that is.
when lexi took her test she made me promise not to watch her driving portion, but chris didn't care, so laney and i stayed outside while he parallel parked and backed into a parking spot.
nailed it!
after he passed he was laughing like a little boy and would put his hands on his face and say "i just can't believe i have my license!" it was so cute! he was so excited that as soon as we got home he pulled gideon into the driveway and cleaned him up.
today he spent several hours installing a new radio, and tomorrow he'll work with matt or david to install his amp. boys will be boys.
he was very proud of himself that he was able to take everything apart and put the radio in. i am impressed too! it took him a long time, but he did it!
and now we have another driver! even though i think chris is a better driver than lexi, just the fact that he's a boy scares me. boys like to drive fast with loud music and show off, and it just makes my mama heart scared. every time he leaves i admonish him to be careful, not to drive anyone, (he can only drive family for the first 6 months per the long arm of the law) put his phone in the glove compartment, go the speed limit... he's like "mom, i got it."
matt and i have come to the conclusion that they're going to get into accidents, we just hope they are small fender benders like lexi did (many times). oh please stay safe, baby boy!
i am hoping delaney hops on the milestone bandwagon by choosing no more diapers this week. we're doing pretty good, but we're not there yet. thankfully i don't think frankie's got any big changes coming up. mama needs time to get used to all the newness in our family right now. :)
