friday was supposed to have been christian's birthday party. he had wanted to rent out the neighborhood clubhouse, which was fine, but i wasn't about to have 20 middle schoolers roaming our neighborhood with nothing to do. my neighbors would have a fit and i'm saying that with a lot of love. :) so i told him we needed to come up with some games or movies, or video games, or music, or something... and then i gave him all my ideas, which weren't lame, i might add!
of course he didn't like any of my ideas, but didn't have any of his own. ahhhh, deep breath.
i was still trying to come up with something to do, so i thought i'd throw out the "we could just have a small slumber party and go to the movies" idea and he seemed to like it!
hooray!
but then one friend was grounded.
boo!
there were still two friends left, but then on thursday he decided that he didn't want to go to the movies anymore. he didn't want to do anything. (he kind of reminded me of when addie throws a tantrum and when i ask her what she wants she says "not anything!") i figured that he would change his mind, so i made arrangements with the other friends parents.
but nope. friday came and he was still not wanting to do anything.
i was sad, but i really felt like i tried and what else could i do?
he ended up going to the middle school dance (wonder if he'd wanted to do that all along?) and slept over at a friends house.
on saturday i made sugar cookies (again! i found a delish and easy recipe!) for his basket ball game. i was running behind (surprise!) so matt decorated them for me. :)
the boys all liked them. :)
then after the game i called every adolescent girl i know to try to find a babysitter so we could go to the japanese steakhouse for christian's birthday dinner and eat in peace. fabulous planning on my part, i know (i'm just so tiiiiiiired!). i finally had matt run next door to our neighbors house. i knew their daughter babysits, i just didn't have her number. and finally, on our last ditch effort, success!
it was a terrible picture night! out of the 3 taken, this was the best. vampire lex just had to take one for the team. ;) and you can just see delaney's seat behind me. sweet little angel slept the whole time, love her! even though the pictures were bad, the food and company were good.
quick stop at wally for some last minute birthday dinner food and home we came. and the little girls had a wonderful time with their babysitter. :)
