Saturday night there was an awesome thunder storm. They've gotten super strong lately, like shaking the house loud and close. This was a neighbors picture.
That evening Addie and I headed up to the visitor center for a Megan Reiker fireside.
She's an artist and her works are called Women of Inspiration, so double whammy for Addie.
It was a really good presentation. This was my favorite picture of two women and the iron rod. That story has been on my mind and I loved this interpretation of it. The woman in front is right there, you can see the light from the tree of life reflected on her dress, she's probably already seen it, but still cared enough to look back and help her sister behind her. Even though she wants to help, she knows she can't let go of the rod. And the girl in the back was almost there too, but she maybe walked to close to the edge, or just somehow lost her way. You can see the mists of darkness still pulling at her leg trying to hold her back. Just beautiful.
Addie really liked it. She wanted to go around and write the names of all the pieces displayed. She listened intently and doodles on her sketch pad. Even though it's far, I'm glad we went.
Last night there was another storm. The power went out right around 1:30. The phone rang once and I bolted out of bed. Then after a few seconds it rang again. Then the computer backup started beeping. Then it was so hot. Then the little girls came in our room because their lights had gone out. Then finally the power came back on and we were all able to get back to sleep.
Our weird night resulted in us sleeping in till 9:30. And we were supposed to leave for our Monday adventure by 10. Oopsie. We quickly threw together our beach stuff - thankfully still easily accessible in our garage since our last beach day.
Purse park is ridiculous to get out to and we drove out of our way and got turned around. We finally made it by noon and the girls got in asap.
Shark tooth hunting is amazing out there and the hunters found lots. I say that because the younger crew decided not to hunt.
Shopping at Bed, Bath, and Beyond last week I found a little beach table for $6 and had to have it. The girls ate their lunchables off it today and thought it was so cool!
Katie and brynnie were so cute eating on their log.
D enjoyed lunch on our little table too. That's $6 well spent.
Lindsay K and her crew met us too and we had a nice little beach party going on.
Goggles are so ridiculous.
It was fun hanging out with Lindsay, we don't get together often, so it was nice to catch up.
I borrowed Frankie's seashell collecting bag and I made it look good. 😂
The fun crew!
Laura was trying to get a picture of Delaney and she was busy being Delaney.
She's such a nut.
I pulled the beach buggy down a cliff and then back up again. Katie went behind me both times to make sure the buggy didn't get away from me, and thankfully she wasn't needed. Bless her for being there though!
The kids on the trail ahead of us.
We got home and went straight to the pool to clean off just for an hour. Everyone was starving, so we came home and collected our first garden harvest:
Then we had a funny summer dinner. We're basically vegetarians lately because momma hasn't been cooking. We had lemon pasta, baked potato, caprese, and other fresh vegetables. Weird, but it worked.
For fhe matt made us learn a pioneer song. Oh these summer days, I hope they never end.
