sunday, monday, and tuesday were all crazy hot. so glad the temp has come back down a little! the humidity was crazy, you'd step outside and feel sticky wetness. it must be good for our skin though, right? that's what i keep telling myself.
addie had some birthday money left, so we went to her favorite store - michaels, and she walked around and around until she finally settled on a lip gloss making kit. then she asked and asked and asked, until finally on sunday evening we had time to get it out. (daddy made dinner)
we all donned our aprons and got to work.
addie was nice enough to share with frankie. baby d was napping. (still in diapers=baby)
it went about as well as you would think making lip gloss with a 7 and 5 year old would go. :)
another tammy faye in the making.
after dinner we headed out for our sunday walk. we decided to check out our new school, since the grounds aren't closed anymore. we decided to torture them as we walked and then, as per the norm, make them pose for a picture mid-torture.
poor, dejected little souls.
frankie took forever to get shoes on (again, as per the norm) and had decided she didn't want to take her bike. until she saw addie riding hers as we walked away from our house. by that point, we had already spent so much time getting ready that we said no to the bike. and then she was bent out of shape until we played on the new playground at the school. not sure why delaney was mad, maybe she didn't want franks to feel alone? or maybe the wind blew the wrong way, could really be anything with her right now.
it's crazy to look at the fields in front of the school and know that this is going to be a bustling little area someday soon! plans for a new library, senior center, possible preschool center, sports fields, etc. there are big plans for all this green.
tobacco fields no more.
since the gate was open, we decided to let the girls take a look around.
as they played, we peeked in windows. it's soooo pretty! addie was like, "i'm ready to go back to school!" so exciting!
love these crazy girls! they were having so much fun jerking this thing around.
happy girls.
the school is named for a local war hero from ww2, captain walter francis duke, and it's centered around military values - courage, integrity, duty, etc. i loooove it! as a side note, christian's lady love, brenna, is a duke. as in, related to the captain walter francis. there is also duke street, duke airport, and lots of small business. they are st. mary's county elite for sure.
part of the first ever classes at cwfdes!
it's also a green school, so they've got solar panels and water tanks, and all sorts of fun stuff.
and some randomness. on monday morning delaney went to wake alexis up, just because. she told her "the sky's awake, you should be awake!" (frozen reference). then she laid with her awhile and lexi sent me this cute picture.
and finally, addie has had a few rough sundays in her primary class. it's probably been a combination of things, including, but not limited to other kids who shouldn't be in the class being in there. but whatever the cause, she knows better and i expect more from her. so she made a "sorry" card for her sweet teacher. she's so creative, that little artÃst.
