Paris in a day

We woke up bright and early for our 9:00 Eiffel Tower tour. We rode the nicest metro called the RER and got to sit upstairs in comfort for a few minutes.

Spotting her for the first time was so magical!

We didn’t have time to go to the bakery I wanted to, so I went paid way too much by the Eiffel Tower. We met up with our tour group and walked right underneath her. What is life even?

It was so cold! Our guide joked that we picked a lovely October morning to visit Paris. And that Paris weather does whatever she wants; she’s like me.

It was much higher than I thought it would be! I was thinking it would be like Mount Rushmore where when you see it you’re like, this is tiny. But not this beauty!

Adi was the most nervous, but there were several of us that were a little weak in the knees.

Don’t mind the antenna coming out of my head.

There was a restroom at the very top, and since free bathrooms can be hard to come by, Matt and I went. But then we lost each other. He swears he was waiting for me, but I walked around the outside like 10 times. In the meantime our crew bugged out. So then when we finally found each other it was just the two of us and then somehow we ended up walking down from the middle platform.

She’s ready for the Olympics, baby!

Everyone looks funny with .5, but we got her all in.

And some individual shots…

And some couples…

And more couples… we ate lunch in the shadows of the Eiffel Tower, it was pretty magical. Except that that was the second place that wouldn’t/couldn’t serve us crepes. Whomp whomp.

Next up was our cruise of the Seine.

It was so smooth and peaceful and we were so tired, that we each took turns dozing off and on. It was a great cruise though and we saw a ton.

We hadn’t planned our day very well so we ended up zig zagging and walking a ton. But it was in Paris so we were okay with that.

We met some nice Canadians and I offered to take their pictures if they would take ours and we were all pretty pleased.

We walked down the Champs Elysee.

And admired the huge Louis Vuitton building shaped like a bag.

😂

One of the videos we watched highlighted food and they said this Buillion Pigalle was economical and delicious and they serve ratatouille which Delaney really wanted to try. It did not disappoint.

We got French onion soup, ratatouille and pasta and the main courses were good, but then we got desserts. We got 2 crème brûlées, but then everyone else got something different and it was so good! We took a bite and passed it around and I loved everything.

One of our many metro trips of the day.

We bought a 7 day pass and we used that bad boy! And we figured it out pretty well, I was proud of us.

Inside out is called Vice Versa - love it!

It is the city of romance after all.

We didn’t go in to any museums, and I’m cool with that. While I would love to see the Mona Lisa, I’m not stoked about lines or the expense or really a lot of the art.

It was a beautiful metro stop and it was lovely to walk around.

And we took some fun pictures.

It was a perfect temperature by this point and nicely overcast, but it never rained.

Dumb fence got in the way.

Beautiful halls and doors and lampposts, just beauty everywhere.

It’s me, hi, I’m St. Michel it’s me.

We walked out to this little island called Citè, where Notre Dame is and where the first Parisian’s settled. We shopped for souvies and the girlsies for matching sweatshirts. I’m happy they still want to match with me too.

Lexi didn’t like Notes Dame behind us, so we found this cute little street, and I can’t remember if it was Matt taking pictures or Damian, but these are hilarious.

Why did they start before we were ready?

Why didn’t they remind people to fix their sweatshirts?

Or not to crowd?

Or to pull a leg in?

They’re all so awkward and funny. 🤷‍♀️

Matt and I did a first and bought an original piece of art from a street vendor. I’d like to collect some art and interesting things from places we visit, so I’m pretty happy about it. We knew we wanted to see the Eiffel Tower at night, so we were killing time walking around Citè. And then adi said we should eat crepes in front of the Eiffel Tower and we were all sold, but when we got the crepes they were so warm and smelled so good that we ate them in the little restaurant.

Then we made our way back to the tower. But there was limited transit so we ended up walking a lot of the way. I’d have liked to check out the Olympics store, but it was closed.

So glad we went back at night! We’d found this cute little street with such a good view that morning, so we went back there.

We made some British friends and they took a bunch of pics for us and told us that st 11 they do a light show, and it was like 10:45, so we knew we had to stay.

It was so beautiful. The light show was just sparkly twinkling lights, but so so pretty.

You’ve got to get everyone.

You never know when you’ll need an individual shot, and I always struggle to find one.

And for good measure.

We made our way back to the metro after that. We got home at midnight and had walked 11.5 miles and 27,000 steps. It was such a good full day and we all finally got a good nights sleep!
