blogging about our fun trip to seattle has been daunting to say the least. for one, we did a lot. and i'm not good at whiddling down cute pictures or fun things we did. and two, we didn't really use our camera at all. i'm not sure why, but we mostly used grandpa ray and papa seagrove's cameras. and then i had to try to collect all the pictures. but then some were already on my laptop and we don't have wifi at home right now. so then i had to think real hard. and i'm not too good at that lately. and that's why it's october and i have yet to post our july vacation.
anywho.
christian got home from boy scout camp, and alexis from efy on saturday, july 2. christian needed to fly out to dallas on sunday, july 3rd, and we had our tickets to fly out to seattle for monday, july 4th. so that sunday we went to sacrament meeting and then left for baltimore. we saw him off and then went to our hotel. our flights monday morning were early so we figured it would be best to just stay in baltimore rather than drive up again early in the morning hours.
i packed really light (for me!) and we still had a ton of stuff! we carried on a diaper bag, food bag, computer bag, addie things to do bag, and lexi things to do bag. we checked 2 carseats and 4 suitcases. we were a sight, i'm sure.
i had found some (relatively) inexpensive tickets, but they had 2 stops required. i felt like, when you're buying 4 tickets, that's worth it. maybe when you're only buying 1 ticket you can spring for a non-stop or even only 1 stop, but when it's a matter of several hundred dollars, i felt like it was worth it. but it did make for a long, kind of miserable day. we stopped in milwaukee and then kansas city. the girls did really well! frankie nursed and addie was so fascinated by everything that she sat pretty quietly. except for that time before we had even taken off that she bit her tongue cause she was so excited to be chewing gum. she wasn't very quiet then.
we ended up not having to switch planes at all, which i guess was a good thing. we did de-board once and let everybody stretch their legs. we finally arrived in seattle at 1:45. so 4:45 our time. and we had been traveling since 6:30, when we left the hotel for the airport. we stopped and said hi to papa seagrove (at work at the airport) and then grandpa ray picked us up. and then straight to amy's house for a 4th of july bbq with the fam.
we were exhausted and i didn't feel very well, but we had a nice time with everyone until about 9 that night (midnight our time!). then it was off to granpa ray's to unpack and get the girls to bed. the only fireworks we enjoyed were the sounds of them all.night.long.
an-noy-ing!
the next day, uncle dan had an army band concert about an hour away, so matt and grandpa went to enjoy that. i didn't think the girls would be up for another long drive, and i knew i wouldn't be, so we stayed at grandpa's until that evening and then went over to uncle tom's for a harry potter movie night.
(no pictures! wierd!)
other event's, in no particular order:
one day while we were at grandpa's we went swimming.

and i guess that one day matt took the girls to the park?
i don't really remember.
we were able to go to the temple one night while grandpa was working there. we ate together in the cafeteria and had a wonderful time.
we did a lot of driving back and forth from seattle to bellevue and all over washington.
and the girls did a lot of this.
we had a few things on our seattle bucket list that we wanted to do, and we actually did quite a few of them.
one was to eat at the space needle restaurant. it costs something like $16 to go up the space needle, and then to eat lunch up there you have to spend $25 per person. i thought it was worth it. and i was pleasantly surprised at the food.
(i've been there twice before, once with each of my sisters, but i don't really remember the food.
shocking, i know.)
it was really good and there was a lot of it.

lavender butter, yummmm!
goofy much?
lex got all dressed up to go. ;)
addie loves stealing hats.
l-o-v-e.
another fun thing we did was take a ferry out to blake island to eat lunch at tillicum village. they have longhouses and do a traditional native american salmon bake and show.
as soon as you get to the island they serve you steamed clams and then you can look around the island for a few minutes before lunch. we didn't think there was any hurry to get into the dining room, but we were wrong. we ended having to be squished between a wall and another very crowded table and it wasn't very comfortable or easy to see the show.
but the food was delish and the show was fun. and the island was beautiful.
yummy alder baked salmon cooking on the fire back there.
addie the explorer.
and lexi the explorer.
and the ferry back home.

she was amazed at the ferry and everything on it.
before we boarded our ferry, the had some disney radio dancers doing a show out on the pier. so i took addie down to watch while the others waited in line. then they asked for volunteers to play a game and addie wanted to volunteer. it was totally cute! they played musical chairs and addie was, by far, the youngest player, so she was, by far, the first one eliminated. i wish i had my camera cause it was super cute to see little clueless addie up there having fun. :)
and this wraps up our first week in seattle.
phew.
only took me 3 months to write about.
