Christmas Eve 2024

We went to the Zobell’s Soup Kitchen early on the 24th.

This has become a fun tradition and we love spending time with friends and trying all the delicious soups and bread and desserts.

In honor of our summering in Italy we decided to do Seven Fishes for dinner on Christmas Eve. We thought about dressing up, but decided we needed to catch up on our Christmas movies and that it would be easier to do Seven Fishes in courses, so here we are!

First up - bacon wrapped scallops. I think Matt and I are the only ones that liked them.

For the evenings events we each picked a Christmas movie and a game and put them all in a bowl, then spent the day picking what to do next. I got the first movie - The Best Little Christmas Pageant Ever (the old one) and of course I cried because it’s one of the best Christmas movies ever. Our second course was coconut shrimp - my favorite way to eat shrimp.

Third course - goldfish! We also watched It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, and Elf. And we played some good games in between.

Crab Rangoon! I had high hopes for these, but turns out BJ’s frozen ones don’t stack up against restaurant versions.

Sushi from Aldi, which despite what you might think isn’t half bad.

We tried a preseasoned salmon next and discovered our salmon that we season ourselves tastes better.

And finally, gummy sharks for dessert. It’s a fun tradition, but I wish Adi didn’t hate seafood. 👎🏼

We read Luke 2 and talked about our Savior and the meaning of Christmas. Every year I appreciate and love Him more. I’m so grateful to know Him and to know that He loves me no matter what.

Frankie had babysat the Grondel’s the night of Alecia’s Christmas party and when she came home she brought me this little puzzle. There was a gift Matt had gotten at one point that had this little guy attached and I really wanted it, but it was stolen from us. Anyway, McKenzie said she had bought several puzzles, so that was sweet that she gave me one and I finished it on Christmas Eve. ❤️
