saturday was our annual beach party on the square event. we love going to this every year.
last year, in 2013, we were in nauvoo, so we missed it.
but here are some cuties from 2012:
and 2010:
one of the years i think it was cancelled due to rain, and the other year, maybe we didn't go? i can't remember and can't any trace of it on da blog.
this year it was chilly! my little water babies still managed to run in the water from the fire truck.
we started at the fire truck sprinkler.
laney had fun running and splashing up and down the gutter.
frankie ran under the sprinkler a little bit, but it was not warm, so she didn't love it.
addie had fun taking the umbrella under the water. she was our only girl to get a fire mans hat and she really wanted that hat and coloring book.
after that we headed down to the water slide down by the wharf. it had been so rainy that it was super muddy down there, and pretty gross. frankie wasn't thrilled to try the water slide, but she did. can you see her face?
hahaha!
delaney was even worse. she wanted to go in and got to the top, but then didn't want to come down. we knew it was only a matter of time before she wigged out, and there were a lot of big kids going up and down, so she really needed to come down. i finally asked one of the bigger girls just to help her down. except that muscles mcgee didn't want to be up there, but she really didn't want to come down. her legs splayed out and she cried and cried. i kept telling the girl "just push her down, please! just push her down, she'll be ok!" after wrestling with her for a minute, she finally managed to push that poor 2-year-old down the slide for some towel cuddles and a cupcake. (i made sure to thank that sweet girl that pushed her down. hopefully we didn't scar her for life!)
all better!
after her harrowing experience. silly girl.
we blew bubbles.
and went fishing.
and jumped in a bouncey house.
and took lots-o-pictures.
the chair was wet so she didn't want to sit down.
or pose.
thankfully some people like to pose for their mama.
addie slouches.
so i told her to sit up straight and got this:
sometimes it's hard to get it right. :)
loving the rainbow!
that was the first time i noticed this cool old building says "dukes fountain bar restaurant," also as in "captain walter francis duke elementary school."
christian's lady friend, brenna, is a duke. they are an ooooold somd family!
we met up with the aina's several times throughout the evening. one of the last things we did was to hang out in the sand with them.
these frenemies posed for me. :)
our last stop of the night was for ice cream at big larry's.
another fun beach party!
