we drove the 16 miles to the north end of ocracoke island to catch our last ferry of the weekend. we hustled to get there, only to find that a ferry had broken down and wouldn't be coming till 11:30. a delay at the beach can never be that bad, so we walked the beaches. :)
the ferry to hatteras is only about 14 miles, but it takes an hour to get there. the shoals have made it so that the ferry has to go the long way around, which has made the trip about 15 minutes longer recently.

and i love hatteras! just look at those cute beach houses!
we had our biggest fun day of climbing ahead of us!
