with the boys gone all day saturday, we made plans with mindy and gang to go to the beach.
lucky for us, the tolson's (family from church) live on a beautiful beach and mindy made arrangements for us to go there for the day.
we met up at 10:30 and didn't leave until after 3:30.
we brought a picnic lunch, pulled up their adirondack chairs, and relaxed.
it was a beautiful day! overcast and cool, a perfect day to be outside.
these two played nicely almost the whole time!
i think we only had tears once, but they went away quickly when the mama's stepped in with extra buckets.
my spot for the day. and i was actually holding the chips and capri suns and divvying them out for the girls since they were all sandy. i didn't eat all of them, okay?
frankie played in the sand for a little while, but she was happiest playing up on the grass near mindy and i. she definitely dances to the beat of her own drum!
the tolsons's have 2 kayaks and said the kids could take them out as much as they wanted. they were in heaven! i think the story behind this picture is that jack had just gotten hit in the head with the paddle on accident. i'm pretty sure that getting a hug from robin made it all better for him. ;)
they usually split up, one boy and one girl for their kayak rides. one time the girls went off by themselves, got stuck over by the big dock, and ben (who is 10) had to come rescue them (they couldn't get the kayak turned around!). he saved the day a couple times, that little man of mindy's.
at the end of their dock they've got this rope, almost like a clothes line over the water. not sure what it's for, but the kids had a lot of fun playing on it!
it was a wonderfully fun, relaxing day at the beach. the only reason we packed up when we did was because a storm was rolling in and we were getting drenched. as soon as we got home, i got the girls in the bath and
finished cleaning my bathroom (my very least favorite job!!!) and by so doing finished all my cleaning projects for the week! a day late, but still done!
matt and christian got home about an hour later and both certified scuba divers!
they had a blast camping with the boys and scuba diving around the quarry.
unfortunately, they also forgot their camera.
but they said the quarry had cars, boats, an airplane, and bus all sunk for them to explore.
sounds like every boys dream!
on sunday we had a nice day at church. i helped out in the nursery which worked out well because frankie (who only has 6 more weeks till she's in nursery officially!) loves it in there. after church we put the babies down and matt and i took a quick nappy. all day sunday was overcast and lovely. i got up, made chicken alfredo lasagna, and matt, frankie, and i went to kenny's baptism. we had kenny and the missionaries over for a nice dinner, and then matt and i went to bed with our blinds open so we could watch the lightning outside our window. it was cozy and sweet.
i give our weekend an a+.
